Mackenzie grew up in Encinitas, California, with her parents and younger sister. In middle school, she began designing costumes out of discarded materials for a creative academic program. When paired with her love of reading, her passion for costume continued to grow. She graduated from UCLA with a BA in Theater with a costume emphasis and a minor in African American Studies. It is her goal to design costumes that creatively push the industry to new avenues. In order to achieve creative expansion, she knows it is pivotal for her to make the costume design space more inclusive. Thus it is her goal to learn from one another and our art in order to create a body of work that is intriguing and inspiring.
